Cleaning Hand Made Antique Rugs

I had an interesting call the other day from a customer asking if I cleaned rugs.
Obviously the answer was yes I certainly do Sir.
The next statement was it’s not a very big rug so I am not sure it is worth getting cleaned.
My response was – Well why not let me come out and have a look and I will let you know if it is worth it. So we booked in a time and I had a look.

During the inspection he told me how he came by the rug. He purchased a piece of furniture and needed something to protect it on the way home and the seller gave him this rug to throw over the top saying don’t worry its just been laying around the back yard it yours now.
It is a hand made rug from Iran and from the amount of fading and soil in the rug my guess is it is approximately 50 to 80 years old. It is worth in my estimation if purchased from a dealer between $1000 to $1500.
During the cleaning process approximately 3 kilograms of soil was removed from the rug and the colours although muted from fading are so much brighter from when I received it. I will return it tomorrow morning hopefully he will be as happy with it as I am.
